Harvest results for the 2010 growing season.
The bad news - our eggplant was hit by flea beetles, but we're hoping they'll recover.
Some of the eggplant are doing better now, with a few getting flowers on them and even starting to fruit.
The summer squash are growing, but they take a bit longer than zucchini to mature.
We planted multiple crops of broccoli, using a heat-tolerant variety for the warmer months. More flea beetle damage, but we're hopeful.
Tomatoes are getting larger, with great walls of vegetation held up by stakes and twine.
Even with a devasting attack of late blight last year, causing us to have to destroy all of our tomato plants, we ended up with a record harvest. This year is shaping up to be even better.
We're now about three weeks ahead of any previous growing season, so we're well on the way to achieving the stretch goal we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year: 80,000 pounds!
There's plenty to be excited about this year, with new irrigation and soil supplementation methods, new crops (corn and carrots), and lots of new friends to help us grow. One very exciting development is that we're now harvesting at the Cheney Orchards in Brimfield, bringing in a great new crop of apples.
